Maria waited as patiently as she could. Ea seemed to be taking a while to arrive. She looked at the sun. No, Ea wasn't late. Not now, not the other dozen times she'd checked. Maria still couldn't help worrying... Had Ea gotten lost? It could happen, but it wasn't likely, considering it wasn't that far from the school... What if Ea had gotten hurt? What if something worse had- No! Ea was fine, Maria told herself. She's probably going to get here right on time, thinking she's late. Maria sat down. It was still ten minutes before the appointed time.

Ea was already breathing hard. Her bag strap had somehow wrapped around her neck, but she didn't want to stop to fix it. Because that would require stopping, and she didn't have time for that. She was sure that she was late by now.
"Shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot!" It had become her mantra, as she sprinted as best she could. She hadn't been running that long, either. It was because she had ended up at the hospital, instead of the mall. How she did that, she had no idea. And now her hair had fallen half out of it's careful knot, bits of it flicking in her face. She lifted her skirt up to her knees, trying not to trip on it. She had gotten all prettied up (and this wasn't even a date or anything! Silly girl!) and now she was ruining the effect.
Finally, she came to a halt in front of the mall. Now, where were they supposed to meet, again? "You suck, Ea," she muttered, trying to remember.

Maria spotted Ea right as her watch showd 8:00. "Ea! Over her!", she called, waving. See? There was no need to worry! Maria went to greet Ea, smiling broadly. Maria's smile faded when she saw Ea's hair was a mess. Seeing Ea's bag strap wrapped around her neck didn't help matters. "Ea! What happened to you? You weren't attacked by someone, were you? Did you get in an accident, nya? Did you trip, nya? Did someone try to take your money, nya? Are you alright, nya?", Maria's mind was filled with terrible visions of what could have happened to her beloved Ea, a fact her voice made clearly known. Maria began to cry from the worry.

Ea's head snapped up. "Maria?" Her face split into a huge smile when she spotted the girl, and her hands when to her hair, trying to fix it before the girl reached her. It was a lost cause. She started to try and untangle the bag, but when Maria began to shoot questions at her, she dropped her bag and grabbed the poor girl by the shoulders. "Shh, shh! I'm fine. Nothing happened. I just got turned around, is all." She pulled Maria into an embrace, just as the girl began to cry. "It's okay. I'm so sorry." Tears began to run down her face as well, making her hair stick to her face, and smearing her makeup. Not that she cared. She felt sick. Who was she, to make Maria panic? She knew what she felt like. A monster.

"Oh... Tha-that's all?", Maria asked between sobs a few minutes later. "Oh... That's... good. I was so worried! I'm sorry... It's just, when I saw your hair all messed up, and your bag strap wrapped around your neck like that...", Maria broke down into fresh sobs. When she'd finally calmed down a few minutes later, Maria looked up. "Oh, no! Your makeup is all ruined! I'm sorry...", Maria said, taking out a small white scarf she kept in her handbag. Normally, this scarf served as a rally point marker when she and Cornelia separated when exploring the woods. Maria offered it to Ea. "Go ahead and clean up... If you've got a makeup kit with you, we can stop by a bathroom so you can freshen up. If not, we can go back, then come back here together...", Maria suggested.

"I'm fi-fne. I'm s-so so sorry I worried you." Maria's sobs made her feel even worse, and she cried harder. "Please forgive me. I'll try and not get lost next time. Ever." When Maria pulled away, Ea flinched. But Maria was just pulling out a scarf. "What? No, I'm fine. I can just take it all off. All the makeup." Ea blushed. "That's what I meant." She took the scarf and pulled a water bottle from her bag. Wetting the scarf, she quickly scrubbed all the makeup off. "Is it all gone?" No makeup was easier anyway. Though it did make her blush even more obvious.

"It's okay... Just... next time... please call me if you're lost. That way, I'll know what's going on.", Maria replied, feeling a bit better.
Maria couldn't help but blush at Ea's choice of words. It had been a few days since the date in the woods, but the memories of that 'swim' in the pond were still fresh. "Yeah, you got it all. I have to say, you look better without it!", Maria said, wiping away the last of her tears. "So, are you ready to shop?", Maria asked. She'd just been sent money and a care package from home, so she knew she'd have enough money for the training gear. Who knew? She might even have enough left over afterward to get a few extra gifts for Ea! The thought made Maria smile.

Ea nodded, and wiped away the last remains of her tears. "Okay. I'll call next time for sure. Sorry." She offered the scarf back to Maria, then realized what kind of state the poor piece of fabric was in. "Oops. I can wash it and give it back to you, if you want."
Maria's blush had Ea blushing as well. She knew what Maria was thinking of. Her peaches tingled at the thought of their swim, and suddenly she didn't want to shop. She wanted to grab Maria's hand, find a washroom, and screw her silly. Oh. But she was talking. "Shopping? Yes! Yes, let's shop!" Her parents had her want for nothing, even while being practically banished to the other side of the world. So she had some cash tucked away in her purse. "Where to first?"

"No, that's okay! That scarf isn't really for wearing.", Maria replied, "Cornelia and I often use it to mark a meeting point if we decide to separate while in the woods.", she continued.
"I was thinking we could find a sports equipment store, first. If anyone carries sparring equipment, it should be a sports store. Then we could find a shoe store, and get you some good, sturdy shoes for hiking and stuff. That is, if you don't already have good shoes for that...", Maria replied. She was sure she knew what Ea was thinking at that moment, but she let it drop. Maria was sure that if she'd pursued the matter any further, they'd never accomplish what they came to do. "After that, depending on the time, we could get something to eat, and then look around to see if there's anything extra we might want.", she continued.

"Sounds good," Ea nodded, forcing the blush to fade as she focused on the task at hand. "Sporting equipment store. I have some old hikers, but they're pretty heavy. I should probably get something lighter." She looked at the mall, looking around at the list of stores. "And then food sounds great." She had been too late to even risk grabbing a bite to eat, but she wasn't really that hungry yet. "Do you think there is a costume shop around here? Or a vintage clothing store? Something like that?"
