Appearance:
He hates it but Yao has a baby face. Being as short as he is cannot be helping with looking his age. He’s rather pale with brown eyes. His hair is black and the highlights are brown. His bangs are combed back except at the sides where he lets them hang right around his jaw line. The rest of his hair is pulled back into a low pony tail that reaches to his shoulder blades. He is rather thin with not much muscle tone, but he is still very strong and flexible. Yao has many scars but the largest one is on his back.
Yao will normally wear Chinese inspired clothing. You might even find him in a traditional cheongsam sometimes other wise he likes coats or shirts with pretty designs and big, long sleeves so he can hide things in them. He prefers to wear the color red possibly trimmed with yellow. Black or brown pants will normally accompany this.
Personality: Yao tends to act like an old man often complaining about his back, how he is getting too old for such antics or even the weather; but only to himself. Yao would be mortified if someone else over heard him complaining in such a childish manner. That being said he is very easily embarrassed, often blushing, looking away from whatever caused the embarrassment and then saying that he isn’t embarrassed at all. He isn’t very convincing though. Seriously a child could tell he was lying. About this anyway, when Yao is being serious he has one hell of a poker face.
Yao is mostly very clam, and collected. He is also very polite to the point of being obsessed with it really. He’ll tend to let his guard down around the people he cares about, even if he doesn’t mean to. He’ll also let his guard down around cute things; he gets a tad overwhelmed by it and looses his head.
He won’t take anything from anyone if he can help it. If he doesn’t want something he’ll fight tooth and nail to make sure it won’t happen. If he can’t stop it he’ll push any hot button he can think of, twist any knife in deeper. If he is going down they are going to get hurt as well.

History:
Yao was orphaned at a young age; he can’t even remember his parents. Yao survived mostly on his own determination; he worked hard and made a living for himself. He however had a little help (if you could call it that) when he was very young.
About the age of 7 a foreigner came to his village. He was the talk of the village, he was strong, powerful, fearsome, and had noticed how nimble and desperate little Yao was. He quickly took complete control of the village, it wasn’t hard. One day he cornered Yao, and offered him a job running ‘errands’, doing his dirty work; after all no one would care about an orphan. Yao had no choice but to accept the ‘offer’, it was do as he said or he’d kill him. Life was hard working under the foreigner, he was terrible to Yao, he over worked him, threatened him, beat him, controlled every part of his life. But it was okay at least Yao was surviving, even if he had started to develop a hate of foreigners. To him foreigners represented all evil.
One day Yao begged the foreigner to help him learn how to fight better. That was the beginning of the end. He took Yao’s awkward clumsy fighting and turned him into something to be feared. It wasn’t hard Yao was a quick learner. The foreigners hold on the village began to weaken; Yao had been waiting for this opportunity. Under the stress of trying (and failing) to keep his hold strong, he became weaker, sloppier, didn’t pay as much attention. So they day Yao snuck up on him, Emei daggers in hand, he hadn’t noticed until Yao stabbed him. He was relentless in his attack, fighting the foreigner in any way he could. He eventually got away from Yao one eye not accounted for. The foreigner ran away from the village, and as far as Yao knows died in the forest that surrounds. Yao was completely surviving on his own again, and he’d never been happier. No one ever knew that he had worked for the foreigner.
Eventually Yao started to take care of other children who were also alone. He tried to act like a big brother to them but he wasn’t very good at it; mostly because Yao can be quite the control freak. He’d try to get them to follow his way no matter what they thought; after all in his mind he was right Even though Yao was a control freak he was also a very caring big brother. During hard times when they didn’t have much money Yao often went without eating; but he always made sure his siblings ate.
As he and his siblings grew older they all got much bigger. Eventually they all wanted to do their own thing. Yao didn’t want them to leave. He raised them, he was their big brother, and they shouldn’t leave him, after all families should always stick together. Despite his best efforts they all left, in the end he couldn’t keep them there.
Yao still has a scar on his back from Kiku. He had tried to force Kiku to do something he was afraid of, to get him over his fear. It didn’t turn out like Yao had planned, instead Kiku freaked out. Kiku ended up leaving a large diagonal scar across his back. Yao thinks of this scar as a reminder of his failure as a big brother. He hasn’t seen Kiku since the day he left.
Yao spent a few years alone. This time was mostly filled with painting, and a little traveling. Mostly though… Yao never left his house; he waited as days turned to months and months to years. Hoping that someone would come home; even when he knew no one was coming back he still waited. One day by word of mouth he heard about La Campana. He packed his bags and left, hoping to get a job teaching psychology. In many places in and out of the house, he left notes. Saying where he would be, how to contact him; even if he would no longer be there physically, Yao was still waiting for their return in his heart.
Roleplaying Sample:
Yao was just on his way to his flight when he spotted something in the corner of his eye. Right there in the airport gift shop was a pillow; but not just any pillow. It was the new, limited edition, ultra rare, shinatty-chan pillow. Yao would never admit it but he squealed, high pitched and girly.
“Aiyaaa! It’s so cute aru!” Yao ran into the shop and hugged it. “It’s soft too aru…” Yao sighed contentedly. It was cut much too short when Yao felt someone staring at him. He looked around, but he couldn’t find the source of the stare. Yao brushed it off as a thing of his imagination; He could be very paranoid at times.
Yao walked out of the store happily; Shinatty-chan pillow in his arms. Still he couldn’t shake the feeling of someone watching him. He hugged his pillow and smiled softly.
“I’m just being paranoid, right Shinatty-chan aru?” That’s when he heard it, a loud piecing scream.
“He’s so adorable!” Yao panicked as a group of girls flocked around him. They circled him, like vultures. Saying things like ‘He’s so cute! Adorable! Look at him with that pillow!’ Yao nearly lost it.
“How rude of you aru!” Yao puffed up angrily, trying to make himself look bigger then he was. It didn’t work; in fact it only seemed to make things worse. They started cooing over him even more. Yao nervously looked for an escape. Just like the feared kung fu master he is, when he found one he bravely and boldly… made a mad dash for his flight.
