Goals/Aspirations:
Appearance: Tall and very sturdy. Ivan tends to wear bulky clothing which, when added with his already strong body frame, often causes him to look bigger and more intimidating.
He is big-boned, but he isn't fat. Physically he's very strong, but also very slow. His skin is a light peach color, without any trace of freckles or moles. He has shaggy beige hair that contrast well with his violet-colored eyes.
What may be a bit strange is how youthful he looks. Despite his physical prowess, he has a rounded face, and features that often mislead others into assuming his innocence/kind-heartedness
He never goes anywhere without his off-white scarf.
Personality: Ivan denounces all accusations of him being 'evil', instead only claiming that his actions and motives are for the greater good.
Upon first meetng, one might presume that Ivan is a quiet, if not mildmannered and kind person. But when he opens his mouth, it's almost necessary to do a double take. He would just as easily say, 'You look nice in that scarf', as 'Do you see that metal pipe? I wonder how many people I could kill with it before it breaks..." Yet Ivan's violent tendencies are a mere extension of his own violent past, and having associated those times with his own growth.
Ivan is naturally very clingy and possessive with peope. Coupled with his intense paranoia, neurosis, and a general distrust of people thanks to being tricked and double-crossed multiple times in his past, the current target of his affection rarely comes out unscathed; if they start to show even a hint of wanting to leave him, he quickly turns violent, using both physical and psychological abuse as a way of forcing them to stay with him. He will often “selflessly” throw his help at others and claim his motives to be only his benevolent personality, only to turn around and use it (along with whatever wounds or misfortunes he suffered along the way) to guilt them into sticking around. Simply put, he needs people to need him so they have a reason not to go. He only feels fulfilled with a large group of friend *cough*subordinates*cough* under his wing.
It's not uncommon to see him stalking his subordinates, hiding in the shadows and watching to make sure they don't “step out of line”. He has a tendency to pop up when it's least convenient, and is always more than happy to terrorize them. Of course, it's all for their own good in his mind.
It isn't that Ivan is a saddist, or even that he wants to hurt people...he's just found it's the most surefire way of keeping them put--too afraid to run away. Honestly, half the time he doesn't really even seem to realize how much he does hurt people with his actions and words. To use an analogy, he's a bit like a childish little boy, tossing a small mouse into the air over and over again because it's fun, not realizing by the mouse's panicked squeaking how much he's hurting it. Everything is part of his little game and—because the line between “self” and “others” is so thin for him that it's practically nonexistent, he usually thinks that whatever he enjoys and feels to be 'right' for him must be for everyone else, too. Thus, it's hard for him to grasp why people are so averse to the idea of staying with him.
He does all this because he wants people to be happy. In his mind the only way people can be happy is to be with him. To him, most people jus haven't realized it yet.
Ivan fervently believes that some day everyone will be “one” with him; a permanent part of him, the ruler of a peaceful world, where everyone lives in happiness. To him the “petty” bickering between other nations means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Why bother trying to hold on to your independence and ideals when everyone will be part of his own nation one day anyways?
At first appearance, most people are quick to label Ivan as incredibly childish. His fascination with some of the simplest things and apparent ignorance of how strange the things he does may seem to other people may come off as disarming, almost endearing. Even the way he speaks—in a voice awkwardly youthful and sing-songy it's hard to believe it belongs to someone of his size—carries a degree of childishness with it. Ivan is, for all intents and purposes, a small child...unfortunately for the people around him. He doesn't understand some of the most basic principles of human feelings. Whie he is quick to analyze others, he generally doesn't know how to make sense of his own.

History: Ivan's history begins tragically quaintly, really. Growing up, he lived in a small village in a snow-filled tundra; not quite impovershed, but certainly struggling. Before he could even read or write, this changed. A man from another town decided that he was tired of watching the surrounding villages suffer, and decided to unite them.
Things began to change, but Ivan never questioned them, instead just going along with what was thrown at him. Orphaned by a war started by the new leaders, Ivan was devestated. But in the spirit of the nation, continued on. Their territory continually grew, but at the cost of many lives. Death seemed to be a daily occurence, and changes started to form in society. No longer where the villages kind neighborhoods of solid communities. You could trust no one. Your neighbor my turn you into the police, saying that you don't like the change for the ransom money offered. Ivan found solace from the constant death by playing with other children his age.
He liked to collect friends in such a way, and quickly became one of the rulers of the childish gangs in the area. This was Ivan's first foray into the world of leading and control--something that stuck with him all of his life. Ivan quickly learned how to keep people in place. He was too nice at first...let people walk all over him. People constantly left him or used him for his reputation in the town. He quickly learned how to deal with it.
His gang became huge--no loger childish, but a bona fide organization. He never told is family, but was always certain they knew. He could tell in the way Katyusha looked at him; but to him, he was doing nothing wrong. He was surviving the only way he knew how. He became wealthy through his gang--respected, feared. Things were never perfect; there were occasional slip-ups. A young boy named Tino left the gang in a murderous frenzy--their building was burned to the ground, leaving Ivan with a nasty scar on his shoulder. He had to do things that others might've frowned upon--they were all for the greater good.
But Ivan never considered himself 'cruel'. Even when he was hired as a torturer for POW's, he never considered himself 'violent' or 'evil'. Oh, a few people needed to lose limbs, but that wouldn't matter when the world was at peace, and all past deaths and suffering were considered to be nothing but a stepping stone for achieving control and peace.
It was because of this idea that Ivan decided he would be better off ruling the world. He had set in his mind that other people agreed with him, but were too afraid to say anything. He could see how easily he could control everyone, and that life would certainly be better with him at the helm, so to say. He left his 'allies' at the age of 24. Oh, he was tired of all those old people who thought they knew what was best for the world.
He began teaching in a public school shortly afterwards. He decided that the way of the future was through the youth, their labor and ideas would be what would fuel his future world, after all! It didn't take long for complaints from students to quickly rise about their 'creepy, convoluted teacher'. He was fired from his job, but recieved a letter from La Campana shortly afterwards. Apparently, creepy and convoluted were perfect for their school. What would make a student want to change more, than feeling unsafe in a classroom?
