Breakfast had always been one of the most important meals you could have throughout a whole day, at least that was what his father always told him when he was shook awake to get ready for school. Of course, because of the old man, he had been able to get there on time, most of the time. Now, however, that he was on his own in a school, with all new faces, he had to force himself out of bed. Shockingly enough, it didn't work out well for him, and because of this, he would always end up either having to run for the first or second (sometimes third) lesson. Many times had he told himself to buy an alarm clock with armor, that would survive being thrown against the wall. Not that he threw things against anything just like that... he had a damn good reason to do so!
What reason was there to sleep if you had to get up before you were fully rested and ready for another day?
Alright, Christopher was very serious when it came to school and he had good grades, but concentrating was so hard when he hadn't had enough sleep throughout the night. He knew he had to get up earlier from now on... but it was rather difficult. Getting to bed earlier would probably do him some good, but really, where was the fun in that? Everything around him was so much more active during the night; friends that he no longer saw were on MSN, it was even nicer to listen to music and just sit in his bed, having no worries at all. Besides, he was never really that tired during the nights. Although that probably had something to do with the fact that he wasn't moving around that much anymore. He hadn't been training for real in a year now, just a bit once a week. It probably would get better once he got into the new life here at this school.
And just how long will that take?
He had been here for a while now, but hadn't really got into any friend gangs or anything of the sorts. Chris was a friendly guy, easily getting to know people, but so far he hadn't had much contact with anyone. Would probably get better once he actually found someone that would fit his interest. There were a lot of people around here he was sure he wouldn't really click with as well as students he just felt he could really laugh and have fun with. Too bad he was a tad shy. It was always like that at first, especially if he didn't come into a talking mood. He was in one most of the time, but mostly when he was around people he knew. With new people, he had to use a bit of time to get to know them.
Talking about people...
All he had to do was look straight ahead and the sight of human beings would block the view of anything else. The lunch room was huge and crowded.
Usually he wouldn't stop by, having eaten breakfast and having some food with him in his bag, but not today. In a stressful situation, he forgot all about eating and making some food to bring along. Fortunately, he brought money. The dorms weren't that far away, but he didn't want to go back there just to eat some snacks. Besides, it was about time he got himself some food from this room. He had been wondering whether it was any good or not.
Standing in the food line, Chris took his time to take a good look around the room. He was both studying the colour of the walls and the designs as well as trying to find a place to sit. Pretty much every table was filled up, although some were left with only one or two people by it. So far, he hadn't been able to spot any unoccupied ones. Then again, he could just walk over to one of the tables and ask if he could join the crew. Yeah, that was much more like him. He smiled lightly at the thought.
His turn came in the que, and he quickly decided on what he wanted and paid, sending the lady behind he counter somewhat of a smile in gratitude. She didn't return it, but it didn't throw him off. She'd looked so mad to begin with, so he hadn't expected her to even let her lips twitch a single bit. He took his food and left the line, his eyes searching for the perfect table to join. He didn't want to ask anyone that would tell him no.
In the end, he picked the table right in front of him and walked up to it, a smile gracing his lips as he got closer. It was always a good idea to give a good first impression.
"Hi," He began as he stopped in front of the unoccupied chair, smile still in place"would you mind if I joined you?"

It had been a bad day for Lotus. A very bad day. First of all, she had fallen asleep in her first class. She had never liked Math, at least, it was her least favorite, but she had never fallen asleep in class before. It might have to do with the fact that she had been up late last night. Her friends, the traitor friends who had sent her here, were on Facebook. Despite the fact that they were a bunch of... Well, despite the fact that they had betrayed her, they were her friends, nevertheless. And Lotus actually enjoyed it here. Well, somewhat. She had never moved before, had grown up in the same house her whole life, so she wasn't particularly skilled at making friends or adjusting to change. Overall, though, she felt accepted here. After all, wasn't everyone weird here?
Then, after getting in trouble with her teacher, though he wasn't too hard on her, as she was an A+ student, some hall monitor had caught her in the hall while classes were going on. Well, Lotus had already finished her project for English, so she was going back to her room, with a hall pass, but did he listen? No. Normally, they would let her pass, as she used her charm on them, and they were always a sucker for the cute and timid girl act (though it wasn't an act at all), but this one was a gay. And she couldn't use that one.
So, she had been hauled off the principal's office, where she had to sit until her teacher had arrived. Not a pleasant time, and now her teacher would think twice about letting her go back to her room.
P.E. had been absolutely miserable, as usual. They played floor hockey, which didn't make any sense to Lotus. Sure, being physically fit was good and well. She got that part. But why floor hockey, of all things? She HATED floor hockey. With all the sticks and the pucks flying everywhere... She had fallen quite a lot, and now her butt hurt. Majorly. Sighing at her memories of the day so far, Lotus got into line. The people in front of her ignored her, talking amongst themselves, if they talked. As such, the girl walked through the line silently.
A slight squeeze on her behind made Lotus whirl around. A boy was standing behind her, grinning pervertedly. Blushing deep red, she stuck out her tongue, stamping on his foot, both of which surprised the guy. He left her alone after that. Lotus wasn't too picky as she went through the line. Rice, sandwiches, and a small salad made up her lunch. It actually wasn't too different from the ones she had back in France, albeit a lot less formal. The lunch lady didn't look like she was in a good mood, the lipstick smeared off to the side on one side of her face, but Lotus smiled, her lips trembling slightly. The lady glared back at her, and the smile quickly faded off her face.
Quickly stepping out of the line, as she had gotten her food, and giving one quick embarrassed glance back at the pervert, Lotus scanned the room, looking for an empty table.
Ah! Thank goodness! There was one left! Sitting at one of the nearer tables to the line, Lotus smiled slightly, glad to have found an empty table. It would be nice to sit alone, rather than with a whole bunch of people she didn't know. It made lunch a lot more fun that way.
Lotus took a small bite of her sandwich, and then heard footsteps behind her. Swallowing, she heard a boy's words, "Hi, would you mind if I joined you?" The girl turned around in her seat, her eyes widening slightly as she took in the smiling older boy.
"S-Sure," Lotus stammered, through her decently thick French accent. Her face turned a light shade of pink. Why was he wanting to sit with her? Why her, of all people?

He spared the room another glance, once again noting how many of the other stdents sat together and enjoyed a good meal (alright, so he didn't know just how well it tasted, or if it was any good at all, but still, it looked like it), leaving only a few to sit by themselves. One of those had been the one he chose to sit with. Chris hadn't taken himself much time to study the person he was standing behind... other than the fact that he'd seen it was girl, he hadn't seen much but the hair colour. Now, however, that she had turned around to face him, he couldn't help but to cock his head slightly to the left and smile just a little bit wider. He had, apparently, found a friendly girl to sit with; the blonde hair fit just perfectly well with those brown eyes. Both made her look welcomming and warm, that was for sure.
Christopher was a bit delighted to hear her agree and tell him it was alright for him to sit down.
"Thanks," He said, humming happily as he moved around the table, stopping by the chair that was opposite of the obviously younger person. He couldn't really help but to notice that the chairs and tables in this room were quite new, or so it seemed. Maybe they just were taken care of very well?
In his previous school, the lunch room looked very new, but the chairs and tables quickly looked like they had been around for many, many years even if they were just as new. Well, at least the paint was. No one had never really managed to sit still on the chairs and let them be while they ate -oh no, the children chewed gum and stuck it to the nearest wooden object they could reach. They stood up tall on the tables and jumped up and down. Of course, Chris had been one of these, and often one to start food fights. It was always so fun to see other's get food splashed all over their face, especially if it was a teacher.
He would have to say he'd matured a bit now though, and he tended not to harm the school's property anymore, as well as other students'. Chris had always had respect for others, but he could take his pranks a little too far from time to time just to get a good laugh. Of course, if anything serious happened, or anyone was hurt during his short times of fun, he apologized right away and truly was sorry. It was easier to go after people he knew very well, because they knew him better than anyone else and would know he meant no harm by it. After all, he had a playful, happy nature that lived alongisde that serious and calm one.
Chris placed his plate with food on the table before pulling the chair out before sitting down on it. Immediately he began to eat his food, which consisted of toast, a simple salad. Alongside it came a small package of orange juice. It was a simple dish, if he even could call it that, but very good- especially if one were hungry and just needed something down there in a second; he was a good eater, getting hungry again after merely an hour or so, but no one could reallt notice because of his slightly skinny, but healthy frame. He leaned back in the chair and took another bite of his toast. He hadn't touched the salad yet, but he was craving for it, so it would disappear from the plate soon enough.
"What's your name?" He asked, sparing the girl a glance as he took yet another bite. The first piece of toast would be gone soon.
Starting up a conversation with the girl didn't seem like a bad idea. She looked like the type that would go well along with him, and he had never really enjoyed eating in silence. It was kind of... he didn't quite know how to word it properly, but maybe lonely would do? Yes, it surely would. It was depressing to sit in silence and eat, unless you were with someone you didn't need to speak with to feel comfortable. Unfortunately, there weren't too many of those.
"I'm Chris." Christopher continued as he would probably have to give his name sooner or later anyways. After all, he'd just asked for the girl's, so why wouldn't she ask for his?

Taking a small bite of her sandwich, Lotus peered up through her eyelids and the stray bits of hair that had fallen in front of her face, observing the older boy. He certainly seemed pleasant enough, what with the whole asking thing, but just the way he tilted back in his chair as he watched the other students made her think of a hooligan. Perhaps not a hooligan, but someone who didn't always follow the rules. Then again, she couldn't really talk, having bent quite a few rules here and there, but her record was as clean as a whistle, so it wasn't the same. However, he didn't seem like a bad guy at all.
It was slightly strange, though. Almost every single time, at least since Lotus had come to this school, the French girl had eaten alone. Sure, there were a few times she had eaten with someone, but that was mostly because there were no empty tables, and she and the other person, or other two people, had sat in silence, eating without even looking at each other. It was the same old routine, here. If you had a group of friends, you sat with the group of friends. Pretty much no one moved around, unless they were sitting with another group of friends. If you were new, you sat alone, until you found a few friends.
And if you were shy, you always ate alone.
The older boy didn't seem to be shy, so he wasn't in that category at all. Obviously, he didn't have a group of friends, since then he would be sitting with them, not with the younger French girl. So, he must be relatively new, then. It would be pleasant to sit with him, at least until he got some friends. Wait... What was she thinking? There were no other empty tables, so he had just randomly decided to sit with Lotus. Odds were, that he wasn't going to sit with the shy girl again. Still, it was a bit nice to have someone else at the table. And she didn't have to approach anyone herself, which was always a plus in her book.
"What's your name?" The older boy's question startled Lotus out of her thoughts, thwarting her mind for a moment. She wasn't used to being adressed, or in conversation, with many people, and the surprise of it all had her tongue-tied. The French girl struggled to make her mouth form the words, slightly irked by the fact that she couldn't even produce a sound. Thankfully, she was saved by embarrassment from the boy yet again, who spoke, saving her from pronouncing an intelligible sound. "I'm Chris."
Chris. A very no-nonsense, ordinary name. Unlike her own. Internally, Lotus grimaced. She was named after a flower, for God's sake! What the hell were her parents thinking? She would've preferred a different name, like Samantha or Victoria. Then the girl could have a nice nickname, such as Sam or Vick. Very pleasant names, like Chris, and unlike Lotus. Still, the name did fit her. She had to give her parents that. Though the Frenchie would've preferred a different name, the name Lotus fit her very well.
Then, slightly embarrassed, Lotus realized she hadn't yet answered the boy's question. Her delicately pale face flushed slightly. "And I-I'm Lotus. Lotus R-Riviera." she stammered, through her thick French accent. "Agréable de vous rencontrer." The familiar French words slipped out, revealing another reason Lotus did not talk much. It was very hard to hold a conversation with people when one of them was semi-constantly slipping into another language, one which the other person didn't understand.
Flushing harder, Lotus stammered an apology, translating her foreign words. "I-I'm sorry! I meant that it was nice to meet you." She sighed a small sigh. "M-My French g-gets away f-from me s-sometimes," the French girl explained, peering up at Christ from under her eyelashes.

It was true that he wasn't shy, at least most of the time; everyone had their moments, and he tended to have his around some certain people. He remembered this one girl back in 9th grade. She had been very pretty (he hadn't seen her in a couple of years, so he didn't what she was like now) and proud. She knew she was attractive. Whenever he was around this girl, he had always blushed lightly and ended up being clumsy. Chris always was clumsy around those he really liked- no, wait... he was pretty slippery on his feet most of the time, if he could put it like that.
He finished off the first toast as he waited for the girl to tell him her name. She looked startled, and he wondered for a second if he had done anything wrong. However, Christopher quickly pushed that thought away as he realized he had done nothing, and the obviously younger student probably hadn't expected him to start talking just like that.
He couldn't really blame her. How normal was it for someone t just start speaking to a stranger? Then again... he was the social kind and didn't enjoy silence unless he was all alone.
In his hometown in Norway he had been known as the talkative one. Whenever he was around people, he would either fool around or talk about everything he thought and about his opinions. Chris was a rather deep person, thinking thoroughly through things, even the little ones.
He kind of missed Norway... he had been born up in the north, where it was much colder than down south, but it had been so nice in each season. It was always different. He especially loved the autumn; as mentioned it was always different, but the colours... red, yellow, brown and orange was everywhere, and it was so beautiful to look at.
When the girl finally replied, telling him her name was Lotus Riviera, he almost immediately understood that she had to be french. French or Italian. The former was confirmed as Lotus suddenly began to speak french. He hadn't expected that, and blinked in confusion at the girl.
Why would she start speaking french anyway? She couldn't be sure that he would understand. Still, he found that he didn't mind. It could just be one of those habits. He had a lot too, so it was no big deal.
Chris smiled politely, understanding just what the other meant as she explained. Shit happens.
"Don't worry about it, such things happens." He replied, "hyggelig å møte deg også."
Norwegian, of course.
"It's nice meeting you too."

At least he hadn't thought she was weird that she randomly spoke in French. Sometimes, people could get really ticked over that, and it was kind of insulting. Like some gay boy had called her a 'Frenchie' the other day. She didn't think it was that bad, but his friends laughed, and then she walked away and had tripped, all of the stuff she was carrying spilling everywhere. It had been so embarrassing, but the older boy, Chris, didn't seem as if he would do anything like that to her. He seemed quite nice, which Lotus supposed he would have to be, if he had approached her, and had actually talked to her, unlike every other person in the world. Well, there were some nice people.
Finishing one half of her sandwich, Lotus listened to the boy speak, very attentive. Vaguely, she wondered why he was here. Was he bisexual, like her? Then again, she wasn't super bisexual. She still preferred guys. He might be gay, but then... Why would he choose to sit next to a girl? Or perhaps he randomly picked this table. He could be one of the few hetero people here, sent by mistake. Didn't matter. It's not like she would ask something like that. It'd be a bit rude to ask, at least according to her. Lotus wouldn't mind if someone asked her, though she'd probably blush. It was just that she didn't want to ask someone else that question, as she didn't know their feelings on asking someone else. A bit hypocritical, but it didn't matter.
Lotus was jolted out of her wandering thoughts by unfamiliar words coming from his mouth. Wait, what? What language was that? She didn't recognize it, and Lotus was familiar with quite a few languages. Should she ask him? Her everlasting curiousity burned within her, once more. It was one of the reasons she did so well in school. Lotus was always eager to learn more, and was always jumping ahead of the class. In a few classes, especially, the teachers had learned to give her the entire week's homework at the beginning of the week, and she'd usually have it finished by the next day, or the day after. It was the result of having no social life whatsoever. Wow, her thoughts were jumping everywhere today. Wonder what's up with that.
After Chris finished speaking, Lotus took the last bite of the second part of her sandwich. Now all she had left was her salad and her rice. But, according the rules of conversation, it was her turn to speak. Gulp. She never knew what to talk about, and this was no exception. Should she ask the question she had had? What language that was? It wouldn't keep the conversation afloat for very long, but it'd be something. Besides, she was almost done eating. The sooner she finished eating, the sooner Lotus could get away from the difficult conversation. She was torn, though. She liked Chris; he seemed nice. But Lotus completely failed in the social skills area, so perhaps it'd be better to leave now...
"U-Umm..." Lotus hesitated, before deciding to go through with what she had thought of. "W-What language w-was that? I know q-quite a f-few, b-but I d-din't r-recognize it..." Stupid! Stupid! Yes, it was official: she failed all conversations. Period. Internally, she sighed, annoyed at her own limitations. Wow, where had she gone wrong? Ugh. Lotus began on her rice, waiting for him to answer.
ooc: Sorry, that was fail.

Oh yes...
He missed it so, so much, especially now that he had used Norwegian words for the first time in a month; because he had -somehow- managed to damage his cell phone one and a half month ago, he couldn't call his father and talk to the man, who obviously was Norwegian as well. Of course, he tended to write e-mails to some of his old friend back up north, but writing wasn't the same as speaking.
When Lotus asked him what kind of language he had been speakig, Chris smiled lightly and brightened just a little bit more. It was always a bit interesting to speak about languages, because there were so many different ones and some were very alike another one, but then it was completely different from another.
"Norwegian," He replied, tilting his head a bit to the left as he used his hands to lift himself into another position on the chair. Leaning against it wasn't very comfortable anymore, and not sitting still was healthy.
"That's where I was born. Norway."
Christopher finished off the last of his food and licked his lips, a bad habit he had gained himself only last year; his lips often become dry, and he was very, very good at losing things like lip blams, money and his phone; the blue haired teen hadn't been able to find his lip blam this morning, and had gone around licking his lips from time to time so they wouldn't dry up completely.
Unfortunately, this wouldn't do any good as they, in the end, would turn sore and even dryer. In fact, he could alread feel the uncomfortable and slightly painful feeling beginning to arise, and he promised himself that he needed to buy a new lip blam. However, that task would have been much easier if he had a companion when he left for it. It probably would be nice if he could get himself some soda as well. It had been a while since he last had been drinking Sprite, which was his favourite.
"If you've got time later, maybe you want to come with me for some shopping?" Chris asked, not nervous about it at all, "I need to buy some things, but I'm not too keen on going alone."

Norway... That was much different from her native land of France. Her rice almost gone, now, Lotus smiled. It was nice to meet another foreigner, well, someone who didn't know English from birth. In fact, the girl had been thrown in here with little English skills at all, but she had learned. Not that she was 100%, but still...
Beginning on her salad, on which she had poured ranch dressing (light, of course), Lotus blinked, surprised at Chris's invitation. Go shopping with him later? The blonde was completely and utterly startled by that. She had just met him, and he wanted to go shopping with her later? With her? How did that work out? At all?
Blushing, Lotus wasn't truely sure how to answer. But, then again, she never turned people down when they asked her to be social. It was one of her things. "S-Sure!" Lotus stammered, a blush on her face. "I-I've g-got t-time. I-I'll g-go." Still, the wonder that he had asked her was surprising. Then again, she had classified him into the category of being social, but new. Therefore, if her guess was right, he wouldn't have any friends.
"W-What t-time? W-Where d-do you w-wanna meet?" Oh God. It made her feel like she was making arrangements for a date. That wasn't helping her blush, no, not at all. It was NOT a date. Not not not not not! Chris didn't know anyone else, so he was asking her to go shopping with him. That's it. Period. Besides, she didn't even know if he was gay, or not! He could be bi, hetero, or gay. He might even think she was a lesbian. So, they would be just hanging out. Just hanging out...
It didn't do much to ease the girl, who always disliked social events. Lotus liked being with people, but not holding conversations so much, no. Did it make sense? She wasn't sure... Her "friends" back home had looked at her like she belonged in the loony bin when she tried to explain it. Right now, though, Lotus was just glad that Chris had picked her table. Looks like she'd have an exciting day ahead of her, if not more.

Of course, when Christopher had asked the younger girl to join him, he hadn't meant it in any other than a friendly way. When he did things like this, just suddenly asking if anyone wanted to hang out with him, it was just because he wanted to get to know the other person(s) better and maybe become good friends; Chris really doubted that he would just leave Lotus be even after he gained other friends. The girl seemed really kind and nice, and such traits should be kept precious for everyone.
When the blonde, young girl replied, telling him that she would go with him, he felt his face break out into a huge smile. How wonderful! This way Chris wouldn't have to walk to the mall all alone, buy a soda and some other things and then walk back again. With his maybe-new-gained friend by his side, then the time would go a little faster, and he would probably have fun. Hopefully she would have a good time too.
"I guess an hour after school finished, at the mall, if that's alright with you?" he said, finishing his lunch completely.
His next lesson (even though he hadn't even been in the once before lunch) would start soon, and it would be a good idea if he got there a little bit early. But of course, he still had a couple of minutes before he needed to leave.
ooc- I'm sorry for being so slow... and for the shortness!

Chris seemed quite happy that she would go with home. It struck Lotus as a little odd, but, then again, she had always been more of a loner, herself. Because of her extreme shyness. She had two friends back home, and a penpal here, but that was truly all she counted as her friends. Everyone at her old school, which was a private school, had liked her, but they weren't really her friends. It'd be really nice if she was able to get a friend here. Chris seemed really nice, too, so she'd like to be his friend. Unfortunately, Lotus wasn't quite sure how to go about that...
An hour after school? Could she make it? It wasn't her social life interfering, more her advanced classes. Lotus was such a nerd, though in a good way. In fact, when the girl first arrived, she found herself bumped up class to class, until she finally found herself in the advanced classes at school. Meaning, it was quite often that Lotus took classes with the eighteen-year-olds. But, there was no extra classes after school, so could make it. Lotus nodded, happy. "Yeah, I c-can do that." A smile placed itself on her face, as she finished her salad.
Now done with her lunch, though it took her far longer than usual, because normally she didn't talk to anyone, Lotus glanced at her watch. Oh, she had a few minutes. Though, her Advanced Placement Biology teacher wouldn't like it at all if she was late. Being the only younger kid among all the adults, he was very strict with her. Lotus didn't mind overly much, though. It was expected, and she lived with it quite gracefully.
Smiling across the table at Chris, Lotus spoke. "Th-Thanks for inviting me. I-It'll be fun." Her eyes danced with surpressed joy. She was glad. This was going to be quite a good day, she could tell.
ooc: lol No problem. [/center]
