The room seemed to suffocate Marcia with its silence as she leafed through the scattered papers of the Chemistry teacher in order to find the lesson plans. Then again, it didn't help that Marcia was rather nervous about her first job as a substitute teacher. Sure, it was great to be finally earning her keep, but it was nerve-wracking, too, as she worried about not finding the plans, or giving the wrong assignment, or causing the students to hate her, or making a mistake, or aliens crashing through the window, or- <MARCIA! Calm down!>, she scolded herself, shaking her head at her own nervousness. She refocused her attention on finding the lesson plans, only to remember that they had been written on the board. Marcia smacked her forehead in annoyance at herself. She looked at the board, then, after reading the assignment written on it, wrote her name in the space that the teacher had so courteously provided.
“Okay! Now that that’s over with…”, Marcia said to herself after finishing, then walked over to the CD player and put in a favorite CD of hers, one which featured several waltzes. As the music began to fill the room, Marcia felt compelled to dance, waltzing gracefully in between and around the desks, humming in tune to the music and smiling serenely, glad that she was wearing comfortable shoes.

Hello, class! I am sick today, so I apologise for not being here. I look forward to hearing a good report from (there is a line on which Marcia has written her name) Marcia Sumner when I return. Please work on the Balancing Equations worksheet in groups. This will be a completion grade, and is due at the end of class, so please stay on task and at least attempt each problem! Thank you!
