It had not taken long for Tech to fall into what could be labeled as a state of panic. Where in the world was Travis? Tech had thought that, because his mother had been here not long back for the wedding, his family wouldn't show up for the parent day. They'd be wasting so much more money to get from China to Spain and then back again. Sure, they had a lot of money, but Tech's father was not one to waste it on trivial things such as traveling to see a son he hated. So Tech was in for the shock of his life when he was wandering through the school and just happened to notice that, outside on the school grounds, stood his parents and little sister. His sister, Shi, was the first she saw. What with her purple hair that stood out so easily and bright blue eyes. She was dressed in a pair of white shorts and a bright blue spaghetti shirt top and Tech was amazed that she wasn't cold. Then again, it was spring. Beside her stood a woman at about five and a half feet. Her hair was long and blond, reaching past her waist and her eyes were an almost violet color, just like Tech's. It was that woman that he inherited his Albinism from. The woman, Isadora, his mother, wore simple clothing just like her daughter did. A navy skirt to her ankles, a white blouse and a dark blue sweater. Though Isadora carried a parasol over her shoulder. An Albino couldn't be exposed to sunlight. Tech was aware of this by now. Both him and his mother would burn so quickly. The last figure there stood at almost seven feet tall and was built like a tank. Black hair long enough to be tied behind his head with a pointed black beard and an equally pointed mustache. Even his eyes seemed to be black. His clothing was all shades of black and gray as well as he seemed to wear a Han Chinese Shenyi and whatever was underneath. Though many would label it as being a bathrobe or a kimono meant more for a male, it was not and this man, Bao, would probably smite someone down for labeling it such. Tech's father was not a man to trifle with.
When he was walking by the open doors at the entrance of the school, Tech halted in his steps and watched his family. They hadn't noticed him at all. His mother seemed to have distracted his dad with the beautiful scenery of La Campana, as she had always called it last time she was here. Tech was shaking and wondered if he should take this chance to run and hide or face his fear. Face the thing that scared him most as a child. Tech wasn't even sure if he could manage speaking to his father. He was sure the man would kill him. But this was a school. If Tech died, Bao would surely be locked behind bars the moment anyone found out. A lot of people knew Tech by now so a lot of people would realize if he were to ever go missing. Especially Travis. Where was Travis? Tech wanted to find him. He'd just feel so much more safe with the other boy by his side. But he had no clue where Travis was.
Taking in a deep breath to calm himself, Tech stood up tall or as tall as he could manage and straightened out the dark blue sweater her wore. It was too big for him. A sign that it wasn't his, but Travis's. At least the baggy jeans he wore belonged to him and the white shirt underneath the sweater. He straightened out his hair and, after one more deep breath, dared to step forward out into the schoolyard to go and meet up with his parents.
"Oh, Tech, Darling! Here, get under the parasol. I don't want you burning too," Isadora fretted over the boy as she immediately grabbed his arm and tugged her under the parasol into the shade. It was hardly even a sunny day out. Not raining, just a bit cloudy. Though Tech knew that the clouds didn't stop the sun from burning people like him and his mother.
Shi hopped right under the parasol as well and instantly tucked at Tech's sleeve, which happened to go way past his hands. "Echo-gege! Papa wants to meet Travis! I want to see Travis again," she whined as she pouted and tugged even harder at the boy's sleeve.
Hesitantly, Tech glanced over in the direction of his father. It surprised him to see that the man wasn't even looking in his direction. It seemed like he wasn't listening. Instead, he was looking off at some other the other students who seemed to be playing some form of chasing game on the field. Maybe he shouldn't have been all that shocked by it. His father hated him and probably wanted him to disappear from existence. A man such as Bao wouldn't want to waste his time with someone like Tech. So why had he come in the first place? Tech didn't dare ask and just brushed it off instead with a simple nod of his head. "Of course. Right this way then," the boy replied as he hooked his arm around his mother's and guided her along into the school. Shi instantly followed, her hand caught in their mother's free hand and their father following rather silently by their side. Tech was trying hard to stay calm now. He couldn't be how he often was around here. He couldn't be the way he was with Travis. He had to go back to the old Tech. The one back home who obeyed what his father told him because he knew that, if he didn't, he'd be dragged over to somewhere quiet and beaten.
"Where is he?"
The deep voice that Tech hadn't been expected caught the boy off-guard and he gave a slight jump before regaining his composure. He slowly looked around and bit at his lip. They hadn't even made it very far into the school. Just down one of the hallways that could lead to anywhere. Really, Tech had no idea where he was going. He had less of an idea as to where Travis was. "Just wait here, Father. We just have to wait and he will be here. You see, Travis is... he has expert tracking skills. He knows when he's needed and... and knows where people need him to be. If we wait, he'll be here," Tech explained as he propped himself against the wall. Tracking skills. He wasn't aware that Travis had those kinds of skills. He just knows that Travis has that weird little talent of always finding Tech. It seemed Bao didn't believe a word his son said either because his eyes were narrowed into a glare as he stared at the boy.
"Echo-gege? You should tell papa all the wonderful things about Travis! I bet it would make him feel lots better," Shi said rather happily though the girl clearly wasn't aware that Tech didn't want to tell their father anything about Travis. Or that he didn't even want his father here because it could only turn out badly.
Tech nervously tugged at the front of the sweater he wore and slowly gave a nod of his head. He could almost feel his father's eyes boring into his skin and he didn't even have to look up to find that he was being watched. Tech just didn't know what he was supposed to tell his father. There were so many amazing things that he just loved about Travis but he wasn't sure if there was anything he could say that his father would approve of. "Well, Travis is... special. He's a very handsome young man and..." Tech hesitated as a blush spread across his cheeks. It probably wasn't a good plan to speak of how handsome another male was. But it was a good quality, wasn't it? "And he's very loyal. To me, at least. I believe he's loyal to many others as well, but not in the same way as he is to me. He is also a... happy person, very protective and... someone who you should appreciate." Tech wanted his father to accept Travis. Tech wanted to be accepted by his father again. But the more he talked about Travis, the more he realized his father was going to hate him. After all, Bao didn't like happy. All definitions of the word gay, this man hated them all. But the man just stared at Tech without a word. Tech nervously tapped his fingers against his stomach, shutting his eyes and trying to be patient until Travis showed up. He really hoped that these expert tracking skills that Travis had didn't fail now.

Travis had a skip in his step, as he hurried down the hallway almost fast enough to make his lungs protest, but not quite. Hooray for thin lines. And how good he'd gotten at toeing them, with all the practice he'd had. Sure, Travis may be slow about some things, but he was good at spotting where he should stop. His mouth just usually refused to listen. But even if he overstepped this time, and his aching chest turned to something more serious, it was worth it. Because he had a pair of twenties slipped into the pockets of his baggy jeans, and had even donned a button-up shirt he didn't even know he possessed. And he was taking Tech out for Easter Brunch! He knew it was supposed to be a few days from now, technically (ah ha, technically) but he wanted to give the boy an Easter egg hunt, too, so he thought that started out the long weekend with a brunch was completely cool. He had been working so hard lately, too! Travis didn't imagine school being nearly as much work as Tech made it look like, but school was probably harder here. Though that might just be because Tech actually did his homework.
And signed it Tech Wilson.
Fuck yes. Travis was the luckiest boy in the whole damn world.
He moved down the hallway, searching for that familiar purple hair. Such a short boy should be hard to find, but his hair made him stand out. Well, and the fact that Travis had a sixth sense, when it came to his lover. He just knew where the boy was. Or, he didn't know, but his feet would bring him there, just the same. And listen to that! Was that not Tech's voice, getting louder and louder as he made his way down the small hallway? Oh ho ho, was he good at this! Although... who was he talking to?
"-well, but not in the same way as he is to me. He is also a... happy person, very protective and... someone who you should appreciate."
And was he talking about him? He felt his cheeks go red. Why was Tech talking to someone about him? Everyone around here knew about them, and he could hardly see the stand-offish boy talking to a new kid about him. He stepped up the pace, holding his breath so that he wouldn't have to force air into lungs that wouldn't let him. He wasn't in trouble, was he? He had a bad feeling about this.
He turned the corner, and leaned against the wall, letting his heart slow until he could breath again. Then he raised his head, smile already on his lips, because Tech was right there, and for a moment, all he could see was his husband, and everything was right in his world. Then... his tunnel vision pulled out. And there was 'Mom', and little Shi... But he didn't really care about them right now. Because there was no mistaking the mountain of a man beside them. The intimidating father, whose muscles Travis could see from here (he used those against Tech. He hit Tech with those hands) and who's eyes shot right through him. His smile turned shaky, as he took a nervous step towards the family.
"Hello!" He leaned in and kissed Tech on the lips lightly, trying to hide the anger and fear in his eyes. "What brings you all here?" His veins were pulsing with anger, all previous weakness forgotten. "It seems like you just left, and all! Not that I'm complaining..." He didn't look at the man at all. The man didn't deserve to be acknowlaged. He wasn't scared. Nope.

Most of Tech's family was made up of patient people. Including almost every one of his siblings with the exception of Enrique. But, of his parents, his father was the impatient man. Tech made sure to watch the man through his bangs to make sure he wouldn't make any sudden unneeded movements and so that he wouldn't scare him again with sudden speaking that he wasn't expecting. Though the man was staring at him, Tech stared right back and held his father's gaze. He felt as though he could crumble and blow away just under that stare and it was almost tempting to turn away like the coward he considered himself to have become. In the past, staring at the man would have been so easy. But nowadays, he was afraid. Tech had feared the day when his father would come for him and do something drastic. The boy had disobeyed his father's orders in the past and been punished. But they were simple things like not finishing his homework or forgetting to make dinner. Then there was that one day, not all that long back, when he ran away into the world for the first time ever. The scars from that punishment were still there. And now here Tech was, married to another man and not wanting to inherit the academy. That, in Bao's eyes, was far worse than his child sneaking out for the day. So Tech was just waiting for that day when his own father tried to kill him.
Tech wasn't sure which he noticed first, the voice or the touch to his lips. But the boy jumped a bit, squeaking even as he felt the familiar lips on his own and, instantly, there was a deep blush across his cheeks. He had wanted to stay calm. He had wanted to try and be the old Tech that his father knew. Maybe if he had tried to be his father's son again, the man would go away from Spain without causing any problems. But squeaking and blushing was not something that Bao was aware that his son could even do. Tech coughed softly as he dropped his head to try and hide the blush on his cheeks. ”O-oh... Travis. We were... waiting for you. I was just explaining your, uh... good qualities and... expert Tech-tracking skills,” the smaller boy explained as he shifted nervously where he stood.
It was Isadora who stepped forward, parasol tucked under her arm as she reached out to caress Travis's cheek. Unlike some people, Tech's mother was not afraid of homosexual people because they were people too. Not to mention that this woman also had her own little secret about her sexuality not being all straight. ”Oh, Travis, Dear... my husband said we had the money to spare and wanted to check up on the only son he had left. I told him that Tech really was alright... but he always was the kind of man who liked to see things for himself,” Isadora added with an almost musical laugh. Though it was easy to see in her eyes that she too was nervous about this whole meeting. She probably hadn't even wanted to come along because she knew something bad would happen and, if she tried to stop any bad events, she'd also be beaten. By her own husband too.
Tech didn't listen much to what his mother was saying. She was talking to Travis, not him. Plus he could already guess what she was going to say. Instead, he watched his father, who didn't even say a word, just looked over his son's new husband. Tech tried to stand tall once more and, with a few deep breaths, managed to stay calm. He slipped both of his arms around one of Travis's arms, hugging it close and pressing his cheek to the taller boy's shoulder. ”Father, this is Travis Wilson. My husband,” Tech told the man rather simply. The boy's hands were shaking and he grabbed a bit tighter at Travis's arm. He glanced a bit up at the taller boy and managed a nervous smile. ”Travis. Say hello... please...” he said quietly, though the please was more of a whisper that was hardly audible. Tech just wanted this to go well. He didn't need any yelling or fighting. But his father was a martial arts teacher, he was trained to fight. And Travis... was Travis. Tech knew he'd have to do a lot to prevent anything bad from happening.

Travis felt something like hatred twist in his stomach. Tech wasn't even looking at him. He couldn't take his eyes off the monster of a man in the room with them. And anyone that distracted Tech from Travis was automatically on Travis' 'no likey list'. And this wasn't even a jealousy thing. This was a pure hate thing. Like, a 'if I had a gun you'd be dead already' thing.
I'm gonna kill you one day, you bastard. Just you fucking watch.
He had never seen the boy look so scared. It made him feel sick. They were gonna run away, as soon as Tech was done his school. Run away and never see this psycho again. He was never going to lay a hand on Tech again, not unless Travis was dead. And doesn't that just suck, that you're already dying? He had to bite his tongue hard enough to almost make his eyes water to keep from crumpling at that thought. Freaking lungs. Freaking everything that tried to keep him away from Tech.
Travis couldn't help but smirk as he felt Tech jump under him, and the squeak brought to mind more... pleasurable thoughts. Enough so that he had his classic smile back on his face by the time he pulled away from the light kiss, eyes sparkling in an apparently carefree manner, as he licked Tech's blush playfully. That was such a bad idea, wasn't it? To do something so intimate with the father glaring at them? But fuck it. Travis didn't care about that man when he had Tech in his arms. He had a one track mind, and that track was usually dedicated to the beautiful boy in front of him. The beautiful boy, who wasn't meeting his eye, instead cowering and looking terrified. Where was his little spitfire? Travis did not like how the boy seemed to be shaking, though he tried to keep the worry and concern out of his eyes. "My mad Tech-tracking skills? A loud laugh.
He smiled as Tech’s beautiful mother stepped forward. Travis really respected this woman. At first, he had been terrified to meet her. He was, after all, about to cause a lot of trouble in the life of her family, being the boy that her son had fallen for. At gay reform school. Nice. But Isadora had, from their moment of meeting, instantly calmed him. She seemed like the perfect mother figure to Travis, who had never had one himself. By their first face to face meeting, he was already calling her ‘Mom’ in his head. And then she invited him to do so out loud, as they were, after all, family now. Travis was embarrassed at first, worrying he had overstepped, been too obvious, but the kind woman had assured him that she wanted it. They both loved Tech, after all, and that was a good enough similarity for both of them. He leaned into her hand with a cheeky wink. ”Well, it’s really good to see you again, Mom!” A chuckle. "And Shi, too!” He didn’t try to hide the person he was leaving out. What was the point? Nothing he could say would make the man like him any more, so what was the point in being subtle? Travis had always hated a wasted effort.
The air was tense, making Travis sweat. He didn’t like this, he didn’t like this at all. This was not going to go well, and he tried to subtly step in front of Travis. He could feel Bao’s eyes on him. It made him sick, and he was thankful that he had put on nice clothes this morning. Though they were supposed to be for Tech’s enjoyment, not so that he could pretend to be something he wasn’t for Tech’s devil of a father.
Though it’ll be a pity, if this does go bad. To get blood all over his nice clothes. It wouldn’t do to think like that. Stupid. Shut up, brain. Stop talking, or his lungs were going to start straining with the stress again.
Tech’s arms around his were a lifeline, something tying him down, pulling him away from himself so that he could concentrate on something other than the pain in his chest. When he was introduced, he directed a curt not at the man, finally making eye contact, and standing strong. He could feel Tech shake with his request, and he gritted his teeth. He was terrifying his husband, just by being here. This was their sanctuary. He had no right. ”Hello, Dad! Nice ta meet you. Too bad you couldn’t make it to the wedding. We missed you. Really.” Sarcasm was laced in every word. ”Will you be staying with us long? Or can I already start to plan a celebration in honor of you getting the hell out of Tech’s life, again?’ He hadn’t even realized how angry he was until his mouth opened and he had to address the man.
Oops.

Tech instantly shivered, though with pleasure, at the lick against where his blush was. It only made him blush so much more. He clenched his fists a bit, digging his nails into his skin as he tried hard not whimper a bit in wanting of the other boy. This wasn't the time or the place. A hallway was never the place unless it were the hallway to your own house, not a school. And with parents around was never a good time. Tech manages a bit of a smile and even giggles softly. "Mhmm... that way you always find me, no matter how far away I am. Those tracking skills," he pointed out as he nuzzled his face gently to the other boy's shoulder. Blushing, giggling, nuzzling. All of that cuddly and cute stuff. None of it was a good idea in front of a man like Bao. But Tech had his choice. Either be a calm, strong and cruel boy to please his father or be cuddly, happy and smile a lot to please his husband. Tech was going with the second idea because there was no avoiding giving love to Travis.
Isadora gave a soft laugh. She was always so charmed by her son-in-law. He seemed a bit of a dork. Well, he was a dork, Tech knew this for a fact. But his mom didn't know this entirely. She thought he was just really sweet and cute. Of course, Travis was something she would want for her son to have. "It's lovely to see you again too, Travis," she replied as she gently nudged her daughter forward a bit, not wanting the little girl to be rude and not just stop talking, especially when she was being spoken to. "Hi again, Travis..." Shi replied almost shyly, though she wore her normal cheerful smile on her face. The girl wasn't normally a shy kind of person. Only toward a selected five or six. But Travis was special, wasn't he? Tech would always label his husband as special. It was his job as a husband and, of course, it was always the complete truth.
Tech listened to Travis's words and shut his eyes, not even wanting to see how his father reacted to any of this. He wasn't even sure if Bao would react well to Travis calling him dad. But Bao's eyes narrowed at each word Travis said. He even waited for his turn to speak. Even after Travis was done speaking, Bao watched him a long moment. Isadora didn't speak. Shi didn't speak. Tech could feel his heart racing and his breathing had gone panicked as his fingers gripped tight around Travis's arm. Bao looked away and down the hallway. "Issy. Shi... Techolatlallatzin. We need to have a talk. Bring the smartass," the man told them, ordered them really before he took off down the hall at a calm pace, though with a long stride. His wife followed behind him as ordered and dragged Shi along behind her, though Shi's eyes were on Tech and Travis. Though she was gone as her mother pulled her into one of the empty classrooms. A classroom that seemed to have nothing around to show what the class was made for. Except for maybe a few books lying around about crazy people.
Tech took then as his chance to whimper, burying his face right against the other boy's arm as he tried with all his effort to contain his tears. "Travis, oh, Travis, Travis, Travis... what am I supposed to do? What do we do? He... he wasn't supposed to be here," he whispered as he bit down hard on his lip. He almost wanted to take Travis's hand and run away right now. Just leave La Campana for a week or two and come back later when it would be a lot more safe. But then his mom and sister would be left here with that man and Tech wasn't sure what Bao would do to them. He didn't even know what his father had done to them after they came back from the wedding. Had he really allowed them to remain unharmed after they attended a gay marriage? Tech could almost feel his knees give out underneath him with how much he was shaking, so he gripped tighter at Travis's arm and sniffled softly, holding back his tears still. Instantly, he threw his arms up around the other boy's neck, nuzzling his face to his chest. "I love you, Travis. Please make him go away..."

Travis smirked at the shiver, knowing what he was doing to the boy, but not complaining. He didn't even have to see the boy's expression. The heat radiating from his deeply red face made his reaction painfully obvious. The sudden tenseness of Tech's shoulders made his eyes sparkle, a hint of lust in his eyes as he stared down at his husband. It showed something to the attractiveness, the sheer need he felt for this boy. Even with his father looming over them, glaring down at them with that threat of death in his eyes, this wonderful boy could still turn him on. Wow, Travis. Grow some self control why don't ya? If he didn't, then something else would end up growing. And that would just suck. His growth problem would be taken care of pretty quick, though, judging by the present company. "Oh! Of course! I've always had this strange inner compass, but until I met Tech, I just didn't know what it was pointing to." He pulled the boy closer to him, kissing his hair. He was surprised- good surprised- when Tech didn't push him away. He was unsure when he saw Bao there, if Tech would become cold, distant, push him away. But he didn't. And this fact made him happier than he even thought it could. Made him warm all over. Because this was just more proof- like the ring on his finger, the promises around his heart- that this love was real. True.
Travis grinned, laughing along with his mother-in-law. She was probably one of the most beautiful people Travis had ever met, both inside and out. He always seemed to act like an idiot around her, but she didn't seem to mind, so neither did he. And she had always accepted him, from the moment they first spoke. Even though he was taking her last son from her, and she knew that he was going to leave soon, leaving Tech broken. His stomach clenched. Speaking of which... did Bao know that he was dying? He crossed his fingers, and hoped it was a negative. But, back to the mother. He had always looked for someone, some parental figure to accept him. And this lady, this amazing woman did. "Thank you for coming, Mom! How have you been? How was your trip? He winked at little Shi, eyes sparkling with mischief. Tech's baby sister was the cutest. No lie. "You have a good trip, Shi? She seemed more shy than she was last time they had met. He hoped it wasn't anything he had done, though he couldn't help but reach out and ruffle the girl's hair with a chuckle. So cute!
There was an awkward silence after his words, and Travis knew he had let his mouth run away from him. Bad. That was bad. He couldn't guess how bad, but the look in Bao's eyes made Travis' stomach clench uncomfortably. He should just talk, scream or yell or throw something. Do something. Travis was terribly impatient, after all. He'd rather be being hit right now, then waiting to be. He tried to get hints at what was to be coming by looking around at the others present. Izadora wouldn't meet his eyes. Shi wouldn't meet his eyes. And he was too frightened, but too stubborn to admit it, to look at Tech. He could feel his husband's grip tighten around him, though. They were all in deep shit. Because of him. Bao's words made him visibly wince, and his eyes narrowed in anger. "If you have a problem with me, then the ladies have nothing to do with it! So you shouldn't involve anyone but me! You're just a bit bully, throwing your weight around, but leave them and Tech out of it." No dice. No chance to be a hero yet. He shivered, his palms cold with nervous sweat, as he watched him drag the girls behind him. "...fuck."
Tech's whimper cut deep into him, and he held the boy tight, mouth a grim line. "I don't... I'm sorry. I don't know, I don't know... I'm so sorry. I know, I know he wasn't..." He winced, and nodded. "I'll do my best... please, I'll do my best, I'll do all I can... I love you..."
