"And that's the pool, it has a reputation for where people have sex all the time." Ashton said as he pushed his mother in her wheelchair. The frail, pale, ill looking blond smiled laughing softly.
"My goodness Ashton, surely you haven't done anything there."
"No, but I have had sex before."
"Hmm...interesting."
"You should meet Adonis, he's a good guy. Dating the physics teacher."
"Interesting."
The boy smiled. He was happier then he'd been in a while. He'd taken in Cain, and his mother was here. When he first learned she was sick and Kohaku knew, he was beyond pissed. He had every right to know she was ill. Ashton, despite being nearly 18, was STILL a massive momma's boy. But when he had called her and talked to her for the first time in month's...she'd explained everything. That he wasn't told to make sure he didn't worry and stress about it.
The 48 year old, who still looked like she was in her late 20's to early 30's looked up at him. Ashton smiled. She was aging beautifully. That and she always took care of herself. She was so thin and frail now...so weak looking. She'd been strong when he was a child, but now she needed so much help. He parked the woman's wheelchair under a tree, and sat on a near by bench.
If you looked at the two you'd realize that Ashton had the same eyes as his mother, and curly brown hair as his father. "Ashton..." she began. Oh great...here came the whole routine of how she was disappointed in him.
"I'm sorry."
He was stunned for a moment.
"What...do you mean."
"When you were younger...I lied to you for so many years. I used to think of you as a parasite responsible for the loss of something I held dear."
"I know and-Let me finish." she cut him off holding up a hand. She gently cupped his cheek. "I tried to force myself to love you. But...when you were sent away I realized how much I missed you. If I wasn't so sick I'd divorce your father...if I didn't need him right now" she sighed softly.
"When I...discovered what Bruce and the boys did I was furious. I felt a sickening pain. Then when I learn't you were hurt again here and nearly died...I was so worried you would die alone."
"So...you asked Percilla to come here with Hayden?"
She nodded then smiled. "I said don't interrupt me. But yes, I was worried." her smile brightened. "She told me...about your friend Takeru...I'd like to meet him" Ashton turned deep red making the woman chuckle.
"Kohaku...he's a kind gentle man. You deserve a father like him Ashton. He may push you away at times, but isnt that a reason to treasure the times you two spend together?"
Ashton was silent for a moment before nodding. She smiled brightly. "Stop giving him so much grief okay? He loves you...otherwise he wouldn't have kept such a secret from you. Parents do things that may seem wrong to the children but they'll understand when older." she gently kissed his forehead.
"Please...try to understand alright. Stop causing such a giant fuss. I know you're smarter then that Ashton." The boy smiled and hugged her, laying his head in her lap while she stroked his hair.
"I'd like a second chance Ashton...if you allow me to be given that chance."
Ashton was silent for a moment before grinning. "I'd like that mom."
He hugged her a little tighter. "I'd like that a real lot."
