Kurt smiles tightly under the woman's gaze, feeling awkward under his skin. At least he looked good. Thank god for always having a tasteful outfit at the ready. Though by the look the father was giving him... it hadn't helped much, in some cases. And... Dammit. His sister was distracting himself from the danger at hand completely. "Ah, thank you? You're not bad, yourself. For a girl..." He almost slipped up, ruining everything, and his voice grew a little strained. "...that isn't Mizumi." Saved! Hopefully. He didn't dare sneak a glimpse behind him at Grandmother. "E-everything?" His cheeks were bright red. "I... sincerely hope that you are exaggerating." Well, at least the sister hadn't blown their cover. Now it was all up to the parents... Kurt's stomach clenched.
Burt gave the man a one-over, evaluating, then returned the man's greeting with a curt nod. This was not how he had planned on his visit to his son going. Weren't vacations supposed to be relaxing? Already it felt like his stress level had increased tenfold.
Grandmother immediately lept to take control of the situation, mouth breaking into an icy but almost civil smile.
"Charmed. I am Betsy Hummel, and this is my son, Burt, and my grandson, Kurt." Her eyes flickered to the young couple. "It appears that your daughter and my grandson are currently deluding themselves to think they are in love. It is almost cute, in a juvenile fashion. Where are you from?"
Kurt's grip grew tighter and tighter around Mizu's hand, as the father went on. Talking so casually about their daughter... what was this? They obviously met Mizumi. Kurt just couldn't make sense of it at all. Why would they go along with their charade? What were his parents thinking? Were they really helping them? Kurt had a sick feeling they weren't.
"She has a rather... coarse mouth. But nothing that strict rules cannot fix." Her meaning was obvious- accusing them of having lax parenting skills. Burt winced.
Kurt just growled softly under his breath, scowling. "What are they doing? he whispered to the girl beside him, trying to ignore the 'sexy' comment, as there was no way he was about to discuss just how sexy Kurt thought Mizu was with the boy's sister. Just asking a little too much. "...Mizumi?" The boy was being scary-quiet.
