Nothing like a good book to hide behind. Finding a random corner in the vast library not inhabited by people was far easier than he'd expected. He sat down on the floor snug against the corner between two book cases. His eye darted around to make sure no one was near then slipped on his headphones, and picked up the hardback book he was currently reading. The strums of a guitar filled his ears within seconds, and his mind was lost in the book in his hands. His thin legs were pulled up close to him, and were used on a prop for his book whenever he turned the page or changed a song.
He loved libraries they were peaceful, and people who occupied them were usually peaceful as well. Also many people tended to keep to themselves in libraries making sure that everyone existed in their separate worlds. Worlds of adventure filled with pirates, knights, and evil doers, or worlds of love, peace, and happily ever afters. From history to science, or from art to mathematics the world could be found within each page. He didn't pick and chose he would chose an isle at random, and pick the first cover that caught his eye. It went against the saying of the judging a book by its cover, but he wasn't judging. The title had an interesting font? The picture was intriguing? Or maybe the book was so plain he wanted to find was lay inside. Whatever drew him to the bound pages didn't matter the end result was the same.
Fao reached the end of a chapter and stuck his finger into the book to hold his place. Yawning he rubbed his eye before letting his gaze wander only finding empty rows of mostly unused books. It might not be the best way to spend one's Saturday, but with the weather being what it was he didn't see anything else better to do. He'd finished his homework last night, and was left with a free weekend. Stretching his legs out for a few seconds he stared off into space. At least life was calm at the school, and he never really had to be bothered by anyone. He wasn't forced to do anything other than attend class and do homework. Simple life enough, and a pleasant one at that. Some kids seemed to hate it here, but to him this was sanctuary.
He shook his head and curled up his legs again falling once more into his somewhat dark book.. Such books weren't really found within the confines of the school's library, and neither had this one. His little sister had found it and thought of him and his odd tastes in books. He'd found it in the mail only a few days ago and smiled before diving into the story with vigor. The little brat was so darn morbid, and sometimes it worried him. But at least now he had an interesting book to read.
With music blaring in his ears, and a book open before him he passed away the morning hours. It was a little past one in the afternoon before he looked up from the pages. He'd missed lunch again, and he was somewhat thirsty. Moving to stand he found his muscles tight from sitting so long. Fao sighed and merely returned to his sitting position. "Useless legs."

There is nothing worse then being home-sick. Even worse when it’s for a home you haven’t been in since you were 12. Dustin didn’t miss the home he left before coming to Spain, that stupid home back in Nevada. He hated that state, that damn city, stupid Sin City. The flashing lights and beautiful stars that resided there were dimmed to him, the amazing luster they had when he was a child were gone. He hated everything that was in that town, minus of course a few people. The few friends he did have. No, instead the place he was home sick of was New York. The place he grew up his entire life, where all his ties were and all his memories, be it terrible or not. Now Dustin wasn’t a weak boy, and certainly not a boy who would show when he was feeling weak. Instead he was a type who would hold in his feelings, and let them simmer down, well hoped they would simmer down. But now the boy was wandering around the school, more lost then a child in a maze. It was only by chance that he had stumbled upon the large Library.
Books, Dustin loved books. He had been reading since he was a tiny little tike, and never stopped. Even as he run away from his home, the first and last time, he brought books with him on his journey. Life was hard, depressing and just a down right killer, so Dustin found refuge in the many clean pages, in the black typed words that dragged him into a fantasy. That’s what he loved the most, fiction. There was nothing more of a drug to the boy then being lost in a book, to let his mind be taken captive by the spells that each book held within. That is what lead him to want to be a writer, to hopefully have the same effect on someone else. Being able to move someone to a certain emotion just with the force of words was a talent the boy had always had, but once they were on paper he had a even greater impact. But he wasn’t thinking about writing, in fact he hadn’t thought about writing at all in the weeks he had been here. No, instead he was looking for a book, one that would hopefully take him away from the place he was now.
The boy had been wandering around for a good ten minutes before he stumbled—literally—over Faolán. He had perhaps been a moment or two after the boy sunk back to the floor when Dustin, lost in his own thoughts staring in wide-eyed fascination at the many shelf's, let out a startled cry before crashing to the floor. “Holy!” Turning his head slightly it took the boy only a moment to realize it was in fact a person he had stumbled over. With quick actions, he sat up on his knees and looks the other over, worried. “s-sorry! I didn’t see you there and…are you ok?” His voice picked up to a frantic tone for a moment but quickly eased and he let out a sigh, shaking his head. "Sorry…I should have been looking…”

There he was about to enjoy his book some more when someone toppled over him. Lucky for him that he was barely sticking out from his little corner, so in the end he wasn't all that hurt. More startled than anything. He rolled onto his knees, set his book down, and quickly removed his head phones. The person who had just tripped over him was talking, and it was just rude to sit their with his music blaring in his ears. The young man blathering to him seemed more upset about the whole ordeal than he was so he gave a warm smile before speaking. "Don't worry about it. I'm not hurt. You just startled me is all." He turned off his ipod and held out a hand in greeting.
"I hope you're alright though. Sorry if my legs were the cause of your lil' fall there." One blue eye shown out warmly from beneath his black hair the other eye covered with his eye patch. The boy who'd tripped didn't seem to be carrying anything, so he must have just been browsing or something. After a moment whether the boy took his hand or not Faolan retrieved his hand, and rested back on his heels.
He wasn't very good on small talk and was left with a blank as to what to say to the boy. Having been in his own little world he hadn't even noticed someone approaching him. Which left his cheeks burning a little bit for being so unobservant, and for the fact that the boy seemed so flustered. Seeing other people flustered tended to make him a little flustered in the process. As he scrambled for something to say he fiddled with his dangling ear bud absent mindedly.
Finally something popped into his head as something to say, and he blurted it out before some stupid self conscious fear stopped him. "So, looking for a book? Or just looking for a place to hide from the world?" That second bit wasn't that normal of a thing to ask people, but it had come out all the same. He was trying to be friendly in a situation that started off awkward, and only seemed to be growing more awkward by the second. Hopefully the other boy had better social skills than he did. If he didn't then Fao could just return to his book and music.
No need to get all bent out of shape just because some boy tripped over him. Even if that boy was somewhat-No! Not going to think that. Nope. Natta. His mouth was suddenly dry and he dropped his gaze to the floor. This was his stupid step-father's fault for him making him think this way, or make him think that he thought that way. Or...he was just confusing himself the more he though which only led to him being completely silent. This was just going swimmingly.

The boy wasn't mad? Dustin was suprised by this, but it also put him at ease. He hated making others mad, espically people he just met. The flush ont eh boy's face weakened a bit as he relaxed, though he still gave a bit of a nervious laugh. "Thanks.." He gladly took the boys hand and smiled, then moved to sit properly and look at the boy fully. He was rather strange look, but in a pleasent way. Dustin had met many strange people since coming here and he rather loved. The eye-patch caught most of the boy's attention. things like that had always made the child curious, he loved mysterious things so much.
Dustin silently listened to the other male talk and he couldn't help the samll smile that came to him. The boy spoke in a smooth matter and it relaxed him. He was very nice it seemed. The mention of his legs caused a small laugh, only to further embarrash Dustin. The boy wasn't veyr good at meeting new people, and he hated ot look stupid in front of them.
The shy male watched the other a moment and he spoke without thinking, another thing he was good at. smiling a bit, he spoke with a soft laugh hanging on his words. "Seems I'm not the only one who gets red easy!" His words were spoke in a friendly matter, hoping to try and ease any tention that the other may be hiding beneath the kindness. The young male's body relaxed and he found his eyes watching the other's book. It was rather strange looking, one he had never seen before, and it amused him greatly. Dustin loved reading, so much. He held a record for finishing every book he started, no matter how hard or even terrible it was.
The question caused a confused look from the male, and once more without thought, he answered . "Both." He paused for a moment and frowned, thinking of his own words before nodding. "Yes..both. Books are my escape." Dustin spoke with a careful matter, with good reason. He had learned too many times that saying the wrong thing could lead to bad things, and the boy had a habit of saying te wrong thing. He choose to speak carefully, making sure none of his words were foolish or wrong. This boy seemed nice, the last thing he wanted was to upset him.
"Thnk you" The words suprised Dustin but he continued, speaking on a whim. "For not being mad...Heh, most people would yell at me.." A small pause. "You're nice! Not everyone I met has really been cool..glad I ran into you and not someone else...er...not that i'm happy to run into you! I mean....yeah.." the red returned to the boy's face and his blue eyes turned away, staring at the shelfs of books. "I mean....I am glad I didn't hurt you."
Notes:: D: Sorry this took so long! >w> Dustin's so awkward...

As they sat there for a moment Faolan was able to take the other boy in quickly. Nothing really seemed out of the ordinary, just a seemingly shy boy who just so happened to be in the library. He smiled in return as they shook hands, “No worries.” The other boy laughed easily and appeared to have a very light way of things which brightened Fao’s mood a bit glad to of met someone with a bright attitude. Words fell from his mouth somewhat effortlessly or so it seemed but in truth he was just nervous and tended to ramble when he didn’t know what to do.
After rambling for far too long he froze at the boy’s next words. Red? Oh, right he’d blushed a tad hadn’t he. That being pointed out only made him blush more and bow his head in slight shame. If his step father had been there he’d had gotten reprimanded for sure. A man does not blush and most assuredly did not blush in the presence of another man. Fiddling even more with his head phones his voice dropped a bit in volume the next time he spoke. But at the boy’s answer to his somewhat blunt questions he lifted his head.
”Me too!” He burst out enthusiastically his eye bright before he realized he was acting far too eager. Calming himself he corrected himself. “I mean I find books pleasant as well. Do you have a favorite?” They both seemed rather hesitant and skittish of the other sitting awkwardly across from each other in the silence of the library.
Finally the other boy spoke up again and the words shocked Faolan considerably. Toward the end of the short, thankful rant he was smiling warmly at the other boy. He was about to respond when the other boy’s cheeks went red again, confused as to why he bit his lip. What did he do? Why was the boy blushing again? Seeing the boy blush so often was making him rather flustered, and it showed in his anxious actions.
“I, um, g-glad you ran into me too then… I guess. A-and t-there’s no reason why I would be mad. It’s not your fault my legs were sticking out.” He smiled again trying to not intimidate the boy in any way. His heart was racing as his nerves claimed him his hands trembling slightly as he fiddled with his ipod and ear phones.

An easy feeling came over the young boy and he couldn’t help but feel glad. The luck to stumble across a rather normal boy and one that likes books no less was almost a gift. It had been a long time since Dustin met anyone that liked reading as much as he did. After all back home people were only interested in who was fucking who, and who did what crime. Public school, it was certainly a ‘gem’ of society. Now, despite his shade of blonde hair, Dustin wasn’t that dense. He could easily tell that the other boy was nervous, just like him. The question eased him though, after all anything about books made Dustin relax. With a simple smile he gave a soft nod, thinking about the question.
“Well..not sure. I have read a lot of books in my few years…” A small laugh escaped, he always loved to talk in the form of one who was older. It annoyed others at times, and he silently hoped that this boy wasn’t the same. “The two I can remember most really…would have to be Better than a Dream and Where the Red Fern grows. Not my favorite book..but one that means a lot” He paused a moment, wondering if that even answered the question. “But…Neil Shutterman and Christopher Pike are my favorite writers…”
As the boy gave a soft stutter, Dustin’s blue eyes lit up with curiosity. The boy didn’t seem one for big talk, so clearly he was shy. A soft frown rested on his lips as he watched the boy move nervously. His eyes rested on the boys hands as he spoke, for a moment wanting to reach out and grab his hands, to calm him. Somehow though, the boy knew that wouldn’t calm him—He doubted that would calm anyone but him…
“ah…” The pale boy gave a small smile and he gently shook his head. “Neh…I guess I am just over thinking thinks. I tend to do that” He glanced away, a bit confused as how to react. “Er….oh! right!” The boy sat up a bit straighter, as if just remembering something. “My name, it’s Dustin” His voice calmed as he spoke the name, finally back in his usual groove. “Can I have yours?”

The more the boy talked the more relaxed he became so much so that he leaned back against the wall once more. Pulling up his skinny legs to his chest he rested his chin on his knees watching the boy, and listening contentedly. The boy was nice and he actually read books unlike a lot of teenagers he knew. Most teenagers seemed to be more involved with television, celebrity gossip, or themselves. To meet someone a bit more like himself was nice. The awkwardness seemed to be fading between them and that helped relax him even more. He listened happily not being that big of a talker himself, or at least not most times. Time had taught him that voicing whatever was in his head wasn't always the best of ideas.
When the boy exclaimed and sat up straight Fao blinked in confusion, and looked around thinking maybe the other boy had spotted someone. It wasn't like they were doing anything wrong, though in his step father's eyes even being friends with boys his own age seemed wrong. At the sound of a name being given he turned his gaze back to the boy in slight embarrassment. His name, how rude of him not to of given his name straight off! His parents would have been appalled at him for forgetting his manners in such a way. Straightening his posture as well he curled his legs into Indian style and stretched out his hand yet again. "Yes, of course you may. Sorry, I should have offered it earlier. My name is Faolan, weird I know."
Dustin what a normal sounding name one that wouldn't be laughed at or made fun of. A good simple name, a strong name, one that wouldn't stick out when roll was called. "You can call me Fao if you want...or any other nick name really." He'd been called some interesting things in his life so hopefully Dustin wouldn't call him something too horrible. But he hardly doubted they'd see each other again anyway. The boy probably had plenty of friends and wouldn't want to concern himself with such a weird boy like Fao. With a shy smile he sat there once again fiddling with his head phones not knowing what to say next.

What a strange name. Dustin had never heard of that name before, but of course it was expected that he got to hear such a strange name in this foreign place. Dustin himself knew he didn’t have a very common name. Sure, now and then people were around with the name Dustin, but all his friends took it upon themselves to create other names for him. Pet names and such. Dusty was his most popular. Nevertheless, he gave Faolon a smile, shaking his hand. “Awesome name man! New though” Bright blue watched the boy a moment, amused by him. Dustin was strange like that, he loved to observe people. This boy had sparked his interest. He liked him, plus the child was cute, in a shy book-worm way.
Well no, in more then that way but he didn’t want to say it. He wasn’t that outgoing, or really outgoing at all. The amount that he had said up to now is the most he had spoke to anyone in weeks really. Dustin liked to be more of a silent type. It suited him better, after all he would rather be nuzzled into a book then wasting breath with people. This led him to be bit of a hermit at times but that style fit him just fine. Most people annoyed more then amused the young boy. He hated certain traits about people and it was hard to keep the boy’s amusement for a long time. Some have managed though, and those few were the friends that he had back home. In this new place he was finding it much easier to be amused. After all Faolon had keep his attention up to now.
“Hey Faolon..” The boy spoke the name carefully, hoping to not say it wrong. “Question for ya..? “ The boy pointed to the book, a grin on his face. He liked the boy, very much, but it made him sad to know that this might be a one time meeting. Dustin didn’t want it to be a one time thing so why not try to get to know him better? Giving a weak hum, he moved to nestle beside the boy on the wall, eyes lit with a curious shine. “What got a cute little kid like you sent here hmm?” Dustin wasn’t normally so forward, but today he was. He felt at ease with this kid, since they had things in common. It was strange, it was easy to feel at ease with many people here. It worried Dustin some what. He was getting too relaxed and normally he was one to keep his guard up. Dustin would have to much more careful….after this meeting with Faolon, cause for now he was having too much fun.

His face lit up a bit at the positive reaction over his name from Dustin. He didn't know for sure if the other boy actually liked his name or not, but at least he didn't laugh at him. They simply sat there for a moment each seemingly in their own little worlds. Was the boy going to leave? No, he actually moved closer, a little too close for Fao's comfort. He just wasn't a very up close and personal person. More of a 'I have my bubble you have your bubble' type of person, and he preferred for people to keep those bubbles separate. But he wasn't going to say anything he was just going to sit there and fiddle with his ear phones.
Wait, the boy had asked him a question, hadn't he? Thinking back the question finally popped back into his head. "My stepfather thought it would be a good idea." He pulled his knees up to his chest once more with his hands tucked in the bend of his legs to stop him from fiddling. "I...cried too much." There that was plenty of personal information to give to a stranger. Anymore and he'd sound completely and utterly pathetic.
A smile suddenly appeared and he gave a warm expression to Dustin. "But oh well, right? I'm here now, so why does it matter why? I'm here and he's not." He rested his temple on his knee to smile up at the boy. "Why are you here? Did your evil step-parent send you away too?" Fao did his best to make it sound light and like some private joke to be had. Just because he had a horrible family life didn't mean he had to let it bog him down. And if it did bog him down he didn't have to let it bring others down with him.
Besides if he laid out his life in nothing but doom, and gloom to this nice stranger the boy might not want to be friends. And he really didn't want to be lonely anymore, but he also didn't want to appear desperate either. The boy seemed nice, friendly, a bit shy like him, and he was easy on the eyes. Though that last part was something he refused to think about in any context for any length of time. Boys were not cute, attractive, or adorable. Boys were boys, and nothing more.

Dustin wasn't really one for personal space. Sure, at times he didn't want people too close, but to him, it was all the same really. It wasn't hard for the boy to loosen up and his bubble to fade away. Just, at times, he fogot others kept their bubble up no matter what. Still, he stayed where he was, right beside the boy. The young blonde male looked the other over, taking in the close details this time. The other had a very young face, though was the same height (if not a slight bit smaller then the other--perhaps an inch or so). His ease stayed with him as he closed his eyes, head leaning back to rest against the wall.
"Ah..that kinda daddie huh?" The boy exhaled softly, hands resting on his knees. His hands were so pale compared to his dark jeans. Dispite the faded look, it was still dark enough to make the boy inwardly winch at his pale skin. He was often teased about it back home. Espically cabk in vegas, where most people were tan. The boy just wanted good at tanning really. He had tried several times in fact. "Neh..well whatever. Can't say I'm displeased...pretty happy I met ya, you're really nice!" The goy gave a grin, cheerful. He was note the best with words and always says things in the strangest ways.
The boy's eyes opened, a deep shade of blue gazing at the boy in wonder. He asked the question in such a strange way as well, it was amusing in the least. "Evil..." He whispers the word, a wicked grin spreading on his face with a gentle laugh. "Nah..Ya got it wrong mate. I left on my own...Heh, ran away. Brave ain't I?" He gave a wink to the male, pleased. "Not a big story though" He shifts a bit and leans against the boy, his thoughts swarming his judgement for teh moment as he frowns gently. "They don't matter anyhow. I like being here on my own better." His eyes fell again and he only hummed.
The boy was silent, thinking. Dustin wasn't sent here because he was gay or such. Sure, he was hated by his family and that whole shibang. Still, he loved this place more and more every day. He didn't care about going home, he didn't care abotu anything from his past anymore. Just this place, and the people here. It was strange since even people he hardly knew, he felt drawn to. Like this boy here. Already in the short time they met, he felt a strong yearning for him. Everyone here were children, everyone here was longing for something. For Dustin it was a connection. The feeling of belonging. The boy bite his lip and just smiles. He was so stupid, thinking like this.
