Appearance: James stands at about 5'3", being rather small for his age. He has a slender, slightly muscular figure from his history in track and cross country running. James' hair is a bright blonde, easily recognizable in a large crowd (unless it was a blonde crowd...but that's beside the point.) His hair is cut in a choppy, haphazard fashion (from the last time he tried to cut it himself), but it's still quite soft. His face is slightly rounded, but is obviously developing features, as he is growing from his childish form into adulthood. His green eyes sparkle with a childish sort of playfulness at times, but have a wide range of easily recognizable expressions. Most of James' clothes are hand-me-downs from his grandfather, who hasn't used the clothes in years (but kept them anyways), so they tend to look rather large on the boy, making his small frame even more apparent. His boots are made from a tough material, and were originally used by his grandfather whenever he went to go logging.
Personality: James is an extremely optimistic boy, to the point of foolish naivete. He believes that there is good in everyone, and is willing to befriend just about anyone. Typically, James is a relatively shy and studious boy and doesn't spend too much time with others. However, that's not to say he has no friends (because when he feels confident, he's really quite social and outgoing), and he also is very athletic, what with his history in distance running. He's always had quite a sense of adventure, and would often walk around aimlessly in his neighborhood, discovering shortcuts, secret alleys, and all sorts of hidden gems that he would probably have never noticed otherwise. Being as sensitive and trusting as he is, James has grown up being easily hurt and let down, yet due to his naive nature, he places his trust in whomsoever asks for it. He always tries to see the good in people (and he usually suceeds...unless, of course, the person is a slime ball of a human being) and is a very friendly boy once you get to know him. Despite his outward attitude towards public displays of affection and cuddling, he's really quite a romantic. He also has a wicked sense of humor, and loves to make people laugh.

&&--A glimpse of the past
Father: Alfred MacTavish, age 53
Mother: Emily Hunter, age 42
Sibling/s: N/A
Other important relatives: Grandfather Ernest Hunter, age 68 // Grandmother Pauline Hunter, age 66
Pets: N/A
History: James was actually a mistake. The result of an affair between a corporate tycoon and his young and brilliant secretary in New York City, James was really nothing but a nuisance and inconvenience to his father, who wanted the evidence of his illicit affair eliminated. James' mother, however, wanted to keep the baby, threatening her boss with ratting him out to the rest of the company. In order to keep things under wraps, Alfred fired Emily, forcing the woman to retreat to her parent's home in the inner parts of the city. Growing up, James never had a father figure in his life other than his grandfather, who truly did try his best to help raise the boy as much as possible. Surrounded with love as a child, James grew up quite well, aside from a few rough patches. He went to a rather underfunded public school, and it wasn't a blue ribbon academy in any sense of the word. The teachers were strict and miserable, the other students bitter and careless about their education. However, James was earnest and optimistic about his future, absolutely positive about the fact that if he kept his grades up, he'd be on his way to a bright, prosperous future that he could support his family in.
However, James wasn't completely sheltered from the violence in his community. At the age of ten, he watched from his apartment window as a young woman was shot down in a gang fight, her lifeless body laying helplessly on the unfeeling cement. Of course, the young boy absolutely flipped. He was crying for days on end, and at nights would whimper in his sleep, having nightmares in which his mother was the woman who was shot down. Of course, as scarring as the event was for the boy, it only motivated him even more to get the hell out of here and build his way to a better, more prosperous future. Throughout middle school and his freshman year of high school, James was studious and diligent as a student, and did track and cross country on the side to be a more "balanced individual." Of course, he was already looking into colleges with the most scholarships, something that would be able to give him a full-ride. However, we all know the chances of getting a full-ride were slim to none, and the boy nearly gave up on it all. That is, until one day...
A wealthy philanthropist had told James' high school that he was going to be looking for a student to send to a boarding school in Barcelona, Spain on a paid-in-full scholarship. James was blown away; this was exactly what he was looking for all along. His other classmates shrugged it off, saying that it was either a scam or way too hard to get into. However, James was not going to be discouraged. He told his family about the program, and they (or course) thought that it was a splendid idea. James filled out the applications, continued to work hard, and one day got the news that he was the recipient of the scholarship. Now that he was on his way to La Campana, James knew that his future would be filled with opportunities and adventures...
Roleplaying Sample: James scurried about his room excitedly, grinning from ear-to-ear the entire while as he was packing. La Campana...what an exciting adventure! A boarding school in Europe with one of the best academic programs in the world...how could this not be a one-way ticket to success? He could take up forensics after completing the Science program, or perhaps become a famous writer or journalist after finishing all the English classes. He wondered what the other students would be like...well, it was a boarding school after all. Some of them probably would be stuffy and snobby, flying there on a magic carpet of money, and the others perhaps were honest and hard-working...you know, other scholarship students, just like himself. And then there was the city of Barcelona itself, a place where the romantic days of old meet the contemporary and ever-changing present. A place for artists, lovers, business, tourists, travel, and just about everything else you could possibly think of (and he totally didn't just read that off of a travel brochure or anything...)
He pushed down upon the suitcase until he heard the satisfying 'click' of its closure, then flopped down upon his bed, surveying his now empty shell of a room. The walls were bare as ever, the cracks in the paint now seemingly more apparent. The closet was cleaned out entirely, and the windowsill completely naked of his childhood drawings that he used to tape there. Yes...the room was rather sad, almost tragic in its now barren state...but it's only from the emptiness that a new beginning is started, right? He clutched his suitcase to his chest, it having everything he owned stuffed inside, and stared into his room. He breathed in the silence, and let it consume himself. He wasn't going to be able to see this place for a months, years even...he doesn't have the kind of money for flights to and from Barcelona. James let his mind drift as he lied on his bed for the last time...yes, he wasn't going to see this place for a long time. He wasn't going to see Grandpa Ernest or Grandma Pauline, or even his own mother for a long time...but, it was for the best. This was only the first step he had to take into the promising future he so knew that he had...
But for now...it was off to John F. Kennedy International Airport, where he would await his flight.
